Pilates for Runners: What a Physio-Led Class Works On

Every Runfix Pilates class is designed and delivered by a physio, specifically for runners. This is what the classes work on, in Tash’s own words from the class descriptions, and which one to start with.

Tash in the free Full Body Flow Pilates class, no equipment

The posterior chain

Most of the library is built around the posterior chain: glutes, hamstrings and calves. In Tash’s words, these classes are “specifically designed for runners to help improve running biomechanics and strengthen the posterior chain to optimise their running and reduce injury risk”.

The deep core

Pure Core is “a short 15 minute Pilates workout specifically designed for runners to help strengthen and target your deep core to help improve your running biomechanics”.

Hips and rotators

Full Body Flow, no equipment works “the posterior chain, hip external rotators and deep abdominals”. It is the free class, so it is the one to start with.

How the classes fit a running week

A new class goes up every week. Most are mat only or need a single band; each card says its length and its kit before you tap. The full library is £9.99 a month, cancel any time, and the free class needs no card and no sign-up.
